Hiking in Tucson

April 19th, 2009

One of my favorite things to do in Tucson was hiking.  I would go hiking quite frequently in the Rincon Mountains, the Catalina Mountains, Pinnacle Peak, Bear Canyon, and Mt. Lemmon.  Each of these places have many different trail difficulties  some have waterfalls some have lakes.  Often times I would find myself climbing my way to one of the nearby cliff jumping sites for a cool down.  I remember one day I came across a group of people enjoying one of the  sites called Slide Rock where you could find 3 jumps,  the highest was around 100 ft.  After a little bit of laughter and watching some of the grown men chicken out from the high jump I climbed my way up there and took the dive.

I found this vidoe on YouTube of the actual jump!  THIS IS NOT ME!

Unfortunately my hiking days pretty much ended after I blew my knee out,  I could no longer go as often and I would have to stick to the easy trails which was fine with me, I just missed the adrenaline of the climb!

16th birthday

What a better way to start off my first photo post  than with a picture of me feeding a tiger a drumstick at the Out Of Africa Wildlife Park in Campe Verde, AZ http://www.outofafricapark.com/

This was my 16th birthday as I recall.  You can’t see me in the pic just my arm up with the tongs and the chicken.  I have been to the park a dozen times I remember they had a lady named Tucson Terry that would travel every week just to volunteer her time to the animals.   I really enjoyed this place and think that everyone if in the area should visit.
